Sandra Muscat has been a landscape painter and ornamental gardener for over two decades. Whether painting or gardening, she loves to dig deep. Nothing ignites her more than going beyond the surface to discover what is beyond, inside, or underneath. She seeks out connections between what is easily seen and what is hidden or only felt: the way the redwoods breathe, the way the roots spread and drink, the way the microscopic creates the panoramic.
She has transitioned from large scale acrylics to smaller works in ink on polypropylene which float above the substrate and, if desired, could be entirely erased. This reflects both her process of zooming in on her subject and the impermanence of the natural world. Sandra studied art and photography at OCADU and TMU (Ryerson). She lives and works in Toronto.
